How many times a person does need to see a dentist?

A healthy person must see a dentist a minimum of six months but if they have a medical or dental issue they might need to see a dentist every three months.

What causes gum disease?

Gum Disease also known as Gingivitis, inflammation of the gum, is a periodontal disease. The most common form of gingivitis is caused by plaque, which is a bacterial layer. This plaque sticks to the tooth surfaces. If left untreated gingivitis may progress to periodontitis, which is bone structure damaged. This is more serious condition which should be addressed immediately.

What can cause tooth decay?

A cavity or Dental caries is an infection caused by bacteria. The bacterium causes demineralization and destruction of the hard surface tissues of the teeth. The bacteria produces acid when it ferments food debris accumulated on the tooth surface. It is known that caries is one of the most common diseases throughout the world.

What is a dental Bridge or partial denture?

A dental bridge, otherwise known as a fixed partial denture, is a prosthesis used to replace missing teeth and is not removable by the patient. A prosthesis that is removable by the patient is called a removable partial denture.

The materials used for the bridge include gold, porcelain fused to metal, or in the correct situation porcelain alone. The amount and type of reduction done to the abutment teeth varies slightly with the different materials used. The recipient of such a bridge must be careful to clean well under this prosthesis.
